How we choose

We only carry things we can explain.

01

What it was made for

We look at the original purpose of each object. Whether it is functional, ceremonial, or everyday, the use matters.

02

Whether it connects to something real

Each item should connect to a craft tradition, a cultural practice, or a specific context. Objects that are purely decorative without that grounding are not for us.

03

Whether we can explain it

We do not always know the full history of every piece, especially with antiques. But we should be able to say something honest and useful about it. If we cannot, it stays out.
